Echoes from China Traditional Arts Society (hereinafter referred to as “Echoes”) was established and began operating in August 2022. In December 2022, it was registered as a federal non-profit organization.
Echoes serves as a cultural and artistic platform, bringing together students and young professionals in Toronto and its surrounding areas who have backgrounds in arts and culture. Echoes focuses on promoting Chinese traditional culture, including traditional theatre, music, and dance, as well as exploring styles of traditional costumes. The members of Echoes strive to learn and grow together, while they aim to showcase the authentic beauty of Chinese classical aesthetics, through performing on stage, creating content, and hosting open-to-public events on a smaller scale. They aim to increase awareness and appreciation of Eastern cultural heritage while contributing to preserving and promoting Chinese culture.
In August 2022, “Echoes from China Traditional Arts Night” made its dazzling debut in Toronto, capturing the hearts of the audience with its enchanting performances. The event not only received enthusiastic encouragement but also sparked a chorus of positive feedback.
Echoes’ annual Traditional Arts Night is making its strong comeback in September 2023. This show will continue to encompass various art forms and genres. It can be said to embrace both the ancient and modern, with diverse artistic expressions.
The show explores the theme of “Dreams” unveiling a cultural treasury shaped by Eastern classical aesthetics. Featuring traditional theatre arts such as Kunqu and Jingju, classical dance, ensemble music, an Echoes original dance drama, and more, this show aims to engage audiences of all ages and cultural backgrounds.
